This is me…

I started a blog reviewing all the BBC4 TOTP repeats back in 2017. I carried on and on until somehow I was three and a half years down the line and had written 289 posts about 270 shows covering the years 1983 through to 1989. You can find that blog at the link below:

It was exhausting but also great fun actually to revisit the songs and acts from my youth. I included some personal stuff about what I was up to during those years and tried to be honest about my memories and opinions. Looking backwards through middle aged eyes, some of those opinions had changed dramatically whilst some remain as cast in iron as they were back then.

Anyway, when it became clear that BBC4 were going to carry on with their TOTP repeats schedule into the 90s, I decided that I would carry on albeit with a new blog site just for that decade. This is that blog.

The 90s coincided with me beginning a career in record shops (Our Price to be precise) and I spent all bar 10 months of the decade working in them. I’m hoping some of the music will trigger some long forgotten work memories. To any of my ex-Our Price colleagues that may get a mention, it is done with warmth, bonhomie and only good intentions to remember a time which I have come to realise were the best days of my working life.
